Not In Our Name Sonoma County
Not In Our Name, Sonoma County is a Coalition of individuals and groups of Sonoma County. We work from the Peace & Justice Center of Sonoma County. We welcome the involvement of sincere and concerned persons who want to stop the humanitarian tragedies and pre-emptive invasions and attacks on the people of the world. Another world is possible and we pledge to make it real.
We believe that as people living in the United States it is our responsibility to resist the injustices done by our government, in our names Not in our name will you wage endless war there can be no more deaths no more transfusions of blood for oil Not in our name will you invade countries bomb civilians, kill more children letting history take its course over the graves of the nameless Not in our name will you erode the very freedoms you have claimed to fight for Not by our hands will we supply weapons and funding for the annihilation of families on foreign soil Not by our mouths will we let fear silence us Not by our hearts will we allow whole peoples or countries to be deemed evil Not by our will and Not in our name We pledge resistance We pledge alliance with those who have come under attack for voicing opposition to the war or for their religion or ethnicity We pledge to make common cause with the people of the world to bring about justice, freedom and peace Another world is possible and we pledge to make it real. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: We are a Sonoma County based anti-war coalition united behind the goal of averting the loss of life and suffering that would result from a US invasion, new bombing campaign or war on or of any country. We are firmly opposed to the use of war and killing as a means to achieve political ends. We will work to stop our government from using such means to achieve its goals. We will not silently watch as roundups and detentions of our fellow citizens and immigrants to this country occur. We will not accept police state restrictions in the United States. We will fiercely protect our U.S. Constitution, our Bill of Rights and our Civil Liberties. We are a coalition of groups which share a belief in the above stated purpose. As such we wish to share information, jointly organize and lend assistance to/with each other to achieve our shared goals. STATEMENT OF INTENT: We intend to expand, organize and mobilize the peace community within Sonoma County. We will do this through communication, education, training in activism, direct action, civil disobedience and other means. In all our efforts we will use non-violent means. We intend to broadcast our message as loudly and clearly as we can to the US government: The United States is not united for war. We are serious about stopping war and we will resist. CONTACT INFO:

Tax deductible checks to help support NIONSC and the work that we accomplish must be written payable to: The Peace & Justice Center of Sonoma County (in the memo field of the check you must write NIONSC or Not In Our Name Sonoma County). If you do not need to have your donation considered tax deductible you may write your checks to: NIONSC or Not In Our Name Sonoma County. We need volunteers! If you'd like to help with data entry, research/writing, creating graphics, participate in flyering or can staff the NIONSC table at any upcoming events, please let us know by emailing us with "I'm volunteering" in the subject line. We can use your help to educate and communicate with the American people and so much more. Now more than ever we need your support and involvement to reach millions more people. Our committee groups meet weekly, and we have a listserv that we use for communication outside of meetings.
